This summer, the Royal Hotel in Bucharest will be affiliated with the Mercure brand and will be the second unit with this name in Romania, after Mercure Bucharest City Center.
The management contract has been signed, and the rebranding will be operated at the end of the first semester of 2017, after the hotel has been completely renovated and adapted to brand standards.
“The hotel will truly become a remarkable 4-star mid-scale hotel, reflecting Art Deco landmarks of Bucharest. Mercure Bucharest Unirii will have 97 rooms and suites. Like all Mercure hotels, it will be a full-service hotel with a restaurant, bar, room service, and conference rooms,” said Frank Reul, Accor Area General Manager for Romania, Macedonia, and Bulgaria.
In the future, the hotel chain aims to reach a network of 8-10 Mercure hotels both in Bucharest and in other key cities in Romania, such as Brasov, Sibiu, Sighisoara, Timisoara, Cluj-Napoca.
The Royal Hotel was put up for sale 5 years ago for 17 million EUR, but did not find a new owner.
