Greece: €800 Million Extra Tourism Revenue in 2016

The President of the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETE), Andreas Andreadis, estimates a record number of 25 million visitors for this year, as well as additional revenues amounting to €800 million.
Andreadis estimated that approximately 900,000 Russian tourists will visit Greece, accounting for half of the additional revenue.
The tourism industry has been one of the few sectors of the Greek economy that continued to grow during the crisis, with the number of visitors reaching a record 23.6 million last year.
According to the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), the tourism sector accounts for 18.5% of Greece’s GDP, nearly double the European average.
