Grand Hotel du Boulevard could be affiliated with an international hotel chain

One of the most beautiful and oldest buildings in Bucharest, Grand Hotel du Boulevard, is very close to being transformed into a luxury hotel and affiliated with an exclusive international hotel chain that is not yet present on the Romanian market.
The hotel will have 60-70 rooms and will be classified as 5 stars.
Florin Suicescu, a member of the board of directors of Grand Hotel du Boulevard, stated that in recent years, many representatives of major international hotel chains, some already present in Romania, others not, have come to evaluate the building and discuss a possible partnership. He also specified that 2-3 years ago there were also discussions about selling the property.
Suicescu specified that there are currently discussions with an international hotel company, which also has an investment division. This chain is not yet present on the Romanian market.
He says that if these discussions, which are in an advanced stage, are finalized, the hotel would be affiliated with an exclusive international brand that exceeds the 5-star level.
The form of the partnership has not yet been established, whether the hotel company also provides funds or participates only with its name and consultancy, but the Boulevard representative says the owner is ready to invest further.
To date, 15 million EUR have been invested in the Boulevard building.
The former hotel is fully renovated, but inside the floors are open space and do not have separate rooms.
The Boulevard representative estimates that the discussions could be finalized by the end of this year and that it would take another 12 months for the hotel to be ready to receive tourists.
Grand Hotel du Boulevard is one of the oldest hotels in Bucharest, being built by the architect of the University of Bucharest building, Alexandru Orascu, starting in 1867. The hotel was opened in 1873 under the name Hotel Herdan, which changed in 1877 to Grand Hotel du Boulevard.
The hotel was the first unit equipped with running water in the rooms, and in 1904 it was electrically lit and equipped with an elevator.
