Government Establishes 8 Destination Management Organizations

The Government is establishing 8 Destination Management Organizations (DMOs), necessary for tourism development. The funds required for their establishment come from the NRRP.

Thus, the government will establish 8 Destination Management Organizations (in accordance with milestone 328), including all relevant entities operating in the tourism and culture sectors in a specific area. These will be led by the DMO Executive Committee.

The 8 regional DMOs are:

  2. Bucovina
  3. Dobrogea
  4. Maramures
  5. Muntenia
  6. Moldova
  7. Oltenia
  8. Transilvania

At the national level, the National Tourism Office is established, whose members include the central public administration authority responsible for tourism, other central public administration authorities, regional destination management organizations, county destination management organizations, and other relevant public or private entities in national tourism—a consultative body with a role in creating and coordinating the marketing strategy for Destination Romania.
