Geothermal Water Park in the Balotesti – Corbeanca Area

The Balotesti – Corbeanca area will benefit from the first geothermal water park in this part of the country. Work on this project began in 2013 and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2015. The company Aedificia Carpati, which is responsible for this project with German funding, is building the geothermal water park near DN1, opposite McDonald’s and Hornbach.
The total area of the water park will be 10 hectares, of which 15,000 square meters will represent the built area. Inside the park, visitors will be able to enjoy geothermal pools, hydromassage, steam saunas, an artificial lake, swimming pools, and even palm trees (arranged indoors). Geothermal water resources were discovered some time ago in this area, but exploitation has not been successful until now.
The benefits of geothermal waters are numerous, treating various problems such as: locomotor system disorders, respiratory system disorders, rheumatism or arthritis, peripheral neurological disorders, inflammatory gynecological disorders, and skin conditions. In addition to all these, geothermal waters are also used for body care and are included in the composition of various cosmetic products.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the developer company Therme Nord Bucuresti SRL received state aid of 6.64 million EUR. The total value of the investment amounts to 29.74 million EUR. At the end of 2014, the Romanian state reported 1 million EUR as being paid to the beneficiary according to the agreement concluded and estimated that 32% of the investment value had already been realized.
