Starting with 2016, Romania and Bulgaria will offer joint tourism packages in spa centers as part of a project funded by the European Union.
Within these packages, tourists will be able to travel and stay in two spa resorts, one in Romania and one in Bulgaria.
Reservations for this program can be made online.
The project was presented during the congress of the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and Tourism, which took place in the Bulgarian city of Sandanski.
The Secretary General of the European Spa Association, Joachim Lieber, project coordinator, specified that this will be the first cross-border tourism package.
The tourism package includes 8 days, the first of which will be spent in the Romanian resort of Herculane. Subsequently, tourists will visit the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia, and the resort town of Varset, followed by accommodation in the Hisaria resort. Additionally, the package includes a trip to the city of Plovdiv, which will be the European Capital of Culture in 2019, and a visit to Roman ruins.
The EU-funded project "Roman Thermal Spas of Europe" brings together spa associations and resorts from Romania, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, and Greece.
