The President of the Federation of Romanian Tourism Employers, FPTR, Mohammad Murad, considers it abnormal when a company wins the rental of over 10 beaches on the coast through an auction, stating that it is also not normal for a hotel to bid for a beach sector alongside a company that has a different field of activity.
He requests that a company should not be able to hold more than one rented beach.
He said that a company should not be able to rent more than one beach, and auctions should be organized by March and not after this period as is currently the case.
In turn, the first vice-president of FPTR, Nicolae Bucovala, present at the press conference, said that hoteliers who rent the beach do not make a profit from this activity.
In the fall of last year, the Minister of Tourism at that time, Mircea Titus Dobre, stated that there is a proposal for economic operators who own accommodation units on the coast to have a right of preemption for renting beach sectors and that this could be part of the future Tourism Law.
