Former Hotel Dacia in Satu Mare becomes Hotel Indigo

The rehabilitation of the historic building of the former Hotel Dacia in Satu Mare is progressing at a steady pace, with attention currently focused on the interior finishes, after the building’s facade was completed last year. The restoration project of the representative monument is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026, transforming the property into a premium hotel unit affiliated with an international chain.

Inside, the rehabilitation works aim to restore the architectural details from the Secession period, especially in the central lobby, where the carved columns, ceiling ornaments, and the stained-glass ceiling colored in shades of yellow and blue have already been restored. Decorative concrete elements are cast in the workshop according to period plans and photographs to complete the original details, while in the rest of the rooms, work is being done on installations, and the inner courtyard is still covered in scaffolding. Upon completion, the hotel will operate under the Hotel Indigo brand, part of the InterContinental Hotels & Resorts group, being operated by the Hungarian company Hotel & More Group. The unit will feature 62 rooms, a restaurant, a bar, and a SPA center, following an investment estimated at approximately EUR 30 million.
