FlixBus: Significant Growth on the Local Market

Bus transport company FlixBus reports significant growth for the local market in 2018, with passenger traffic being three times higher than the previous year. The positive results are due to the increased offer of destinations reachable from Romania, as well as the addition of new routes to countries such as Hungary and Austria.
In Bucharest, the number of passengers increased fourfold, in Timisoara the number doubled, as it did in Cluj-Napoca.
Starting in 2018, FlixBus increased the number of daily routes to Hungary and connected Romania to Bulgaria, the newest country added to its network. During the summer, daily routes were launched to Sofia, as well as to the most popular cities on the Bulgarian coast.
Due to the numerous destinations to Western Europe, passenger traffic was nearly three times higher than in 2017.
The green network in Romania currently includes direct connections to 15 European countries.
In 2018, FlixMobility became the company operating the largest long-distance coach network in the world, offering mobility services to passengers in 29 countries.
Globally, there was a 40% increase in the number of daily connections, from 250,000 to 350,000 in Europe and the United States between January and December 2018.
“In 2018, we inaugurated the network in the United States, launched FlixTrain in Germany, and introduced the first fully electric long-distance coaches in France and Germany. Furthermore, we began operating national networks in Poland, Sweden, and the first domestic connections in Belgium and Switzerland,” stated André Schwämmlein, co-founder and CEO of FlixMobility.
