The President of the Federation of the Hotel Industry in Romania, FIHR, Calin Ile announced that a hotel in Bucharest and one in Poiana Brasov have announced that they will close their doors in March, and likely also in April, due to the lack of clients caused by the coronavirus crisis.
The FIHR President explained that the occupancy rate recorded by hotels in Bucharest in the first 9 days of March was 41.66%, compared to 63.8% in the same period last year, which represents a decrease of 34.7%.
On March 11, tourism and restaurant employers’ associations sent several requests to the Government to support the industry.
