Arrivals registered in tourist reception structures in June 2017 totaled 1,207.7 thousand, an increase of 7.8% compared to June 2016. Of these, 76% represented arrivals of Romanian tourists and 24% represented arrivals of foreign tourists.
Regarding the arrivals of foreign tourists in tourist reception structures, the largest share was held by those from Europe – 74.1% of total foreign tourists, and of these, 87.3% were from European Union countries.
Overnight stays registered in tourist reception structures in June 2017 totaled 2,727.4 thousand, an increase of 13% compared to June 2016. Of these, 80.1% represented overnight stays of Romanian tourists and 19.9% represented overnight stays of foreign tourists.
Regarding the overnight stays of foreign tourists in tourist reception structures, the largest share was held by those from Europe – 72.4% of total foreign tourists, and of these, 86.3% were from European Union countries.
The average length of stay in June 2017 was 2.4 days for Romanian tourists and 1.9 days for foreign tourists.
The net occupancy rate of accommodation places in June 2017 was 33.2% for total tourist accommodation structures, an increase of 1.7% compared to June 2016. Of the total arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, 51.5% come from European Union states, and among the EU states, the most arrivals were recorded from Hungary – 24.8%, Bulgaria – 22.9%, Germany – 9.6%, Italy – 9.3%, the United Kingdom – 5.1%, and Poland – 4.9%.
Departures of Romanian visitors abroad, registered at border points, were 1,809.6 thousand in June 2017, an increase of 21.8% compared to June 2016. Road transport means were the most used for departures abroad, representing 69.8% of the total number of departures.

The most arrivals of foreign tourists accommodated in tourist reception structures with accommodation functions came from Germany – 139.9 thousand, Israel – 117 thousand, Italy – 109.7 thousand, France – 76.5 thousand, and the United Kingdom – 74.7 thousand.
Arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, registered at border points, were 5,552.7 thousand in the period January – June 2017, an increase of 25% compared to the same period last year.
The majority of foreign visitors come from countries located in Europe – 89.9%. Of the total arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, 55.4% come from European Union states. Among the European Union states, the most arrivals were recorded from Bulgaria – 25.7%, Hungary – 22.5%, Italy – 10.2%, Germany – 8.7%, France and the United Kingdom, both with 5%.
Departures of Romanian visitors abroad, registered at border points, were 9,220 thousand in the analyzed period, an increase of 24.4% compared to the same period in 2016.
