Overnight stays registered in tourist reception structures in May 2016 totaled 1908 thousand, an increase of 4.9% compared to those in May 2015. Of these, overnight stays of Romanian tourists accounted for 75.5%, while overnight stays of foreign tourists represented 24.5%.

Departures of Romanian visitors abroad, registered at border points, were 1405.5 thousand in May, an increase of 26.9% compared to May 2015. Road transport means were the most used for departures abroad, representing 69.6% of the total number of departures.
