Eurolines estimates business of 100 million EUR this year

For this year, the Eurolines Romania group of companies estimates a turnover of 100 million EUR, of which 11 million EUR comes from international passenger transport activities.
Additionally, this year Eurolines will invest in the acquisition of 4 coaches, after renewing its fleet with 8 coaches in 2014. Currently, the Eurolines fleet numbers over 500 coaches.
The emergence and development of low-cost airlines have created strong competition for coach transport companies. For example, Eurolines Romania has discontinued routes to Spain—once among the top destinations for Romanians, especially those traveling for work—as airfare is in some cases much lower than the cost of a coach trip, without even considering the travel time to the destination.
The main reasons why Romanians still prefer the coach over the plane are: ticket prices, the ease of travel for those in provincial cities that do not necessarily have an airport, and the fear of flying.
Eurolines’ main target audience consists of Romanians going to work abroad or their relatives visiting them, but also a segment of tourists on city breaks to Budapest, Prague, or Berlin.
The Eurolines Group has 20 member companies, with 78 points of sale in Romania and 700 employees. Eurolines Romania’s main competitor is the company Atlassib.
