EUR 350 Million Investment in Coastal Rehabilitation

The Dobrogea Litoral Water Basin Administration has launched a tender worth RON 1.67 billion, or EUR 350 million, excluding VAT, for the rehabilitation of a part of the Romanian coast.
The Romanian coast has been heavily affected by erosion over the last 30 years, with beaches disappearing by more than 50% in some areas.
The tender covers the design and execution of works for the coastal protection system, aimed at reducing coastal erosion and ensuring an appropriate level of protection for certain areas of the coastline.
The works are part of the project funded through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program (POIM) – “Reduction of Coastal Erosion (2014-2020)”.
The authority aims to protect and rehabilitate the Romanian Black Sea coast in the areas of Costinesti, Olimp, Jupiter-Neptun, Balta Mangalia-Venus-Aurora, Mangalia-Saturn, and 2 Mai.
The bidder must demonstrate that, in the last 5 years completed by the deadline for submission of bids, they have executed similar works successfully, specifically works in the marine/coastal/port environment regarding the fight against the phenomenon of marine erosion.
The procedure type is an open tender, and the deadline for receiving bids or requests to participate is March 31, 2020.
