Establishing OMDs aims to promote Romanian tourism
Amendments and additions have been made to the current legislation regarding the establishment and operation of Destination Management Organizations (OMDs).
These will lead to a faster establishment of local, county, and regional OMDs.
Three teams will be formed for this purpose at the level of the FPTR Steering Committee. These will include specialists who will provide free consultancy to employers and town halls. FPTR First Vice-President Nicolae Bucovala, along with FPTR Vice-President Nicolae Istrate and the President of the only legally established OMD, OMD Mangalia, Filip Dumitru, will coordinate the teams.
According to the Federation of Romanian Tourism Employers (FPTR), collaborating with a law firm is sufficient for establishing OMDs, without the need for PNRR funds.
The Minister of Entrepreneurship and Tourism, together with the technical working group, has developed the regulatory framework for establishing OMDs in Romania.
