The capital’s newest mall brings changes to the area’s infrastructure. The developer of the Veranda shopping center will invest approximately two million euros in widening Ziduri Mosi street, enlarging the sidewalk on both sides, and moving and modernizing the tram 36 station. At the same time, the plans involve investments in the sewerage scheme and moving electricity poles, with the works benefiting from the support of local authorities.
Described as „the first green and proximity mall in Bucharest,” the Veranda shopping center will be built in the Obor area, to be inaugurated at the end of this year. On this occasion, the developer Prodplast Imobiliare announced that it is starting infrastructure improvement works in the area: widening Ziduri Mosi street and modernizing the tram 36 station, an investment amounting to two million euros.
„We are building new roads to offer the over 430,000 residents in the Obor area a modern shopping and leisure experience. Easy access will define Veranda. Less than a 5-minute walk away are the 16 public transport lines and the Obor metro station, located just 400 meters away. We are also building 1,200 parking spaces, which visitors to the Obor commercial area will benefit from, thus contributing to decongesting traffic in a currently overcrowded area. In addition, the impact on nearby residents will be reduced throughout the duration of the works, as traffic on Ziduri Mosi street will not be interrupted,” stated Andrei Pogonaru, developer of the Veranda shopping center.
Ziduri Mosi street is to be widened by approximately 500 meters.
On both sides of the road, the sidewalk will be improved and enlarged by 4 meters each.
The tram 36 station will be moved, and a platform will be built at the new location.
The plans also involve moving electricity poles and investments in the sewerage scheme.
In order to widen the roadway on the opposite side of the Veranda shopping center, Piata Obor contributed by ceding the necessary land area of 920 square meters, while the investment made by the Veranda developer also includes ceding a plot of over 2,000 square meters. These improvement and modernization works of the infrastructure in the Obor area are carried out with the support of local authorities and are to be completed at the end of this year.
With a total leasable area of nearly 30,000 sqm, Veranda mall will include over 100 stores, a hypermarket, a restaurant area, parking, and a vast green space of over 15,000 sqm. The result of a 60 million euro investment, the shopping center in the Obor area will be open to the public towards the end of this year.
