Emaar Group, the largest real estate developer in the United Arab Emirates, has announced its intention to build a new skyscraper in Dubai, taller than the current Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building at 828 m.
The Chairman of Emaar Properties, Mohammed Alabbar, specified that the new building, whose cost is estimated at approximately 1 billion USD, will be slightly taller than Burj Khalifa and will be completed before the 2020 World Expo, and the exact height will not be revealed before completion.
The new skyscraper, named “The Tower,” will have an observation platform as well as 18-20 floors that will house restaurants and hotels. The tower will be shaped like a minaret and will be anchored to the ground using cables.
