Domestic passenger traffic doubled in Q1 2017

In the first quarter of this year, passenger traffic on domestic routes doubled in the first quarter of this year, compared to the same period in 2016, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics, NIS.
In the first three months of 2016, passenger traffic on regular and non-regular domestic flights at Romanian airports was 319,233; this number doubled in the same period of this year. 
Also, the number of passengers embarking and disembarking at Henri Coanda Airport in Bucharest increased from 158,560 passengers in Q1 2016 to 302,494 passengers in the first three months of this year, according to the NIS.
At Cluj-Napoca airport, passenger traffic increased by 168% in Q1 2017 compared to the same period last year. Thus, from a traffic of just over 43,000 passengers, at the beginning of this year, almost 123,000 passengers embarked and disembarked. 
At Timisoara airport, traffic increased by 146%, to a total of 97,167 passengers, and at Iasi airport, a traffic increase of 46% was recorded, to 90,353 passengers embarked and disembarked.
