In the first six months of this year, the number of tourists who visited Tulcea county increased significantly compared to the same period last year, and estimates show that by the end of the season, the number of overnight stays could double compared to 2017.
The Danube Delta Tourism Destination Management Association (AMDTDD) believes that the correct promotion of the destination and the large number of events that drew attention to the tourist offer represented by the Danube Delta and Northern Dobrogea will lead to a doubling of the number of tourists compared to the previous year, after a period in which decreases were recorded from year to year.
“In the months of July, August, September, and October, the occupancy rate is almost at maximum, which means that the approximately 9,200 registered accommodation places in Tulcea county will be occupied almost permanently,” stated Cătălin Țibuleac, president of AMDTDD.
In June, the number of Romanian visitors who chose the Danube Delta as a holiday destination was 19,542 people, compared to 10,903 in the same period last year. A preliminary analysis of data provided by the INS shows that this increase was generated especially by the possibility of paying for accommodation with holiday vouchers, AMDTDD specifies.
