The Danube Delta Tourism Employers’ Association (APTDD) estimates that the number of tourists in the reserve will increase by at least 20% this year compared to 2020, despite the events at Ukraine’s eastern border.

Presedintele APTDD, Daniel Ilusca, stated that 2021 was a good year, though not as good as 2020. The decrease recorded last year was approximately 20%, and for this year, he estimates a growth of over 20% compared to 2020, which is becoming a reference year.

Another reason behind his estimate is the opening of the Danube ferry crossing between the town of Isaccea, Tulcea County, Romania, and Orlovka, Odessa region, Ukraine—a crossing that recorded 1,000 passengers in one autumn month last year.

He also specified that the rates charged will increase by a maximum of 15%.

In present, the occupancy rate of the accommodation units he represents is approximately 50% for the entire summer season.
