The President of the Dâmbovița County Council, Corneliu Ștefan, announced that Dâmbovița County has obtained in court the Sphinx and Babele from Bucegi, some of Romania’s most famous natural monuments.
The Sphinx and Babele are located on the border between Prahova and Dâmbovița, and the two counties are disputing in court the ownership of the land on which the monuments are situated.
On November 25, 2021, the Dâmbovița County Council won the lawsuit against Prahova County, claiming that both the Sphinx and Babele are located on their territory.
The Prahova Prefecture stated that the territorial boundary between the two localities from different counties does not change what is already established by Government Decision no. 1359/2001, which attests to the belonging of the two natural monuments to the public domain of Prahova County, specifically the town of Bușteni.
