The hotel chain Continental Hotels, with a 34-year tradition on the Romanian market, has announced a partnership with the Urban Nature Network Association. The collaboration materializes by supporting the project “Mapping the green future: urban natural areas for the community”, winner of the first edition of the call for projects “Hotel as a crossroad between people”, launched by the company in May. The hotel initiative aimed to attract cultural, educational or social projects with an impact on local communities.
The selected project, carried out by the Network for Urban Nature Association, aims to document and promote urban natural areas in four cities where the hotel chain also operates: Constanța, Suceava, Sibiu and Târgu Mureș. Over the course of a year, the association’s team will map and photographically document areas such as forests, riverbanks or abandoned land, organize guided tours, consult with authorities and produce information materials. The aim is to transform these often under-protected areas into recognized resources for education, recreation and health. It is expected to have a direct impact on over 500 people and indirect exposure to thousands of people through media campaigns.
As the winner, the association will benefit from a one-year support package from Continental Hotels, including free accommodation in the network of 12 hotels, meals provided, mobility between locations and promotional support. According to Radu Enache, CEO of Continental Hotels, the project was chosen for its sustainable vision and community impact. The Urban Nature Network Association, founded in 2023, currently manages 18 natural areas in 10 cities across the country, with a mission to integrate biodiversity conservation into urban planning. Continental Hotels owns 12 establishments with a total of 1,754 rooms in 8 cities in Romania, operating 2 to 5-star brands.
