Ciudad Real Central Airport in Spain Sold for Just €10,000 at Auction

Ciudad Real Central Airport, built over 200 km from Madrid following a €1 billion investment, was sold at auction for just €10,000.
The airport, designed for a traffic of 10 million passengers per year, featured a 4 km runway, considered the longest in Europe, a visitor center, a vast industrial park, and a 50 m high control tower. It also had good access to the national highway network and generous parking spaces.
Inaugurated in 2008, the airport never attracted more than a few flights per week, well below its capacity. No aircraft has landed at Ciudad Real since April 2012, when it was officially closed.
