The City Grill Group has finalized the modernization of the Hanu’ Berarilor Oprea Soare restaurant and the establishment of the La Boheme hotel, following an investment of 13 million EUR.
The City Grill Group leased the building in 2008, which at that time housed the Casa Bucur restaurant, with the option to purchase it from the rightful heirs. The acquisition was finalized after the first year of operation, and the restaurant was permanently transformed into Hanu’ Berarilor.
Restoration and renovation work began in 2015 and was carried out in distinct stages. Thus, between 2015 and 2017, works such as building the orangery and the terrace infrastructure were completed.
Between 2018 and 2019, the new kitchen was built, and between 2019 and 2023, the old hotel and restaurant building was restored.
The building where the Hanu’ Berarilor Oprea Soare restaurant operates is a Class A historical monument, which imposed very high standards for conservation and restoration.
Under the signature of architect Mihai Butucaru, an architect authorized by the Ministry of Culture, the old building was consolidated, the partitioning for the hotel space was carried out, and interior details were restored. These were brought as close as possible to the original form, with some elements reconstructed based on old photos of the interior provided by the building’s former owners.
The design project for the restaurant, created by architect Mihai Popescu, represents an example of adaptation to the building’s historical architecture. Thus, the gastronomic brewery Hanu’ Berarilor Oprea Soare preserves the original construction elements of architect Petre Antonescu.
One of the significant changes brought by the renovation was the expansion of the kitchen in the new building to allow for the installation of more equipment and more efficient service processes.
The other historical Hanu’ Berarilor location, situated in the Elena Lupescu villa on Pache Protopopescu, is also entering a redesign process, focusing on elements that will link the two restaurants: walls painted in the same style and similar lighting elements.
The City Grill Group currently operates restaurants and cafes under the brands Hanu’ Berarilor, Hanu’ lui Manuc, Pescăruș, Caru’ cu Bere, Buongiorno.Italian, City Grill, and the La Boheme hotel, all locations having a loyal and very active audience.
The City Grill Group ended 2022 with a turnover of 235 million RON and estimates a moderate growth of 10-12% for the current year.
Currently, the La Boheme hotel has an average occupancy rate of 75%. Since the first month, due to its central location, the occupancy rate has been over 60%, with foreign guests accounting for more than half.
