Bulgaria will apply stricter rules to Romanians wishing to travel to their country. This is due to the fact that Romania has entered the red zone.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bulgaria requires Romanians to provide a negative PCR test, no older than 72 hours, even if they have been vaccinated or have recovered from the disease.

Otherwise, Romanians who do not possess a green certificate attesting to vaccination or recovery from COVID may present only the PCR test, but will be required to quarantine for 10 days.

Exceptions include children under 12, bus drivers performing international passenger transport, truck drivers, aircraft pilots, and foreign students studying in Bulgaria. These new rules will not apply to anyone who can prove that the country is only for transit. They apply only to individuals whose destination is Bulgaria.
