The Smart Airport Cities conference was organized in Ghimbav, attended by approximately 200 industry professionals, representatives of the diplomatic and business environment, and local authorities. The conference was organized by the Smart City Brasov Association.

In cadrul acesteia s-a discutat despre implementarea unui proiect prin care Brasov-Ghimbav va deveni primul aeroport din tara noastra eficient energetic, energia produsa urmand a fi stocata in retea ceea ce va duce la independenta energetica.

During the event, discussions focused on implementing a project through which Brasov-Ghimbav will become the first energy-efficient airport in our country, with the produced energy being stored in the grid, leading to energy independence.

The planning of a smart airport prioritizes its transformation into an ecological one, taking into account the European Green Deal.

This fact is in accordance with what the European Commission considers extremely important, namely the reduction of carbon emissions to zero. Europe is set to become the first climate-neutral continent through the European Green Deal by 2050, according to Swiss Ambassador Mattli.

Adrian Vestea, President of the Brasov County Council, mentioned that state-of-the-art technologies will be used for both air traffic control and airport security, investing in everything necessary for Brasov-Ghimbav to be a model airport in terms of energy efficiency.

The project will be financed either from European funds or from the county budget.

Another project related to Brasov Airport, currently in the approved feasibility study stage, is the unification of the CFR 200 Brasov-Sibiu and 300 Brasov-Sighisoara railway lines. The Ministry of Transport, through CFR Infrastructure, is expected to begin the procurement procedure.

The conference discussed the favorable consequences of making the Brasov airport more efficient, including investments to be made in the city by various companies interested in its development.
