Brasov Airport opened a new route to Memmingen, Germany

Brasov-Ghimbav International Airport has expanded its flight network with the inauguration of a new direct route to Memmingen, Germany, starting Sunday. This connection opens access to the Bavaria region and serves as a strategic point for travel to other economic and tourist centers in Central Europe.

Flights land at Memmingen Airport, a former military airbase used in World War II by German and American troops. The airport was converted for commercial use in 2004 with the construction of a modern terminal. The city of Memmingen is a Bavarian urban center with a preserved historic city center, including landmarks such as St. Martin’s Church, the Ulmer Tor gate, the town hall built in 1589 in Renaissance style and the House with Seven Roofs, a 1601 building used by local tanners. According to information published by Radio Romania Brasov, the local gastronomic offer includes specific dishes such as cheese dumplings au gratin and beer-based soup. The airport’s location allows access in less than two hours to cities such as Munich and Stuttgart in Germany, Innsbruck and the Tyrol region of Austria, as well as Zürich and the Swiss Alps.
