Bran Castle attracted approximately 1 million visitors in 2017, according to Bogdana Balmus, PR Director at Bran Castle. The site saw 835,116 ticket-paying visitors, plus those receiving free entry and participants in public and private events.
She notes that the legend of Count Dracula and ghost stories are the central attraction for foreigners, who make reservations as early as January or February to ensure they secure spots for the castle’s October events.
The company managing the castle recorded a turnover of approximately EUR 6 million last year, a 19% increase compared to 2016, when the turnover was approximately EUR 5 million.
“Bran Castle continues to be the most visited tourist attraction in Romania, and the most sought after, especially by foreigners. It is a castle open 365 days a year that, through significant human and financial effort, manages to offer new services and unique leisure activities, serving as a one-of-a-kind venue for public and private events,” stated Bogdana Balmus.
Regarding plans for this year, the company is nearing completion of the elevator in the Time Tunnel, which will feature a unique multimedia show in Southeast Europe.
Last year, on November 19, Bran Castle celebrated 640 years since its first documentary attestation.
