Blue Air: 82% Increase in Passenger Numbers in H1

In the first half of this year, the low-cost airline Blue Air recorded a record number of 1,424,858 passengers, an 82% increase compared to the same period in 2015.
Gheorghe Racaru, General Manager of Blue Air, stated that this significant growth was largely due to the inauguration of 25 new routes this year, opened from the operational bases in Bucharest, Bacau, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi, Larnaca, and Turin.
Currently, Blue Air operates 70 domestic and international routes, compared to 38 routes recorded in the January-June 2015 period.
In the first half of the year, the number of flights reached 7,041, up from 3,188 in the first half of 2015.
In 2016, Blue Air invested in its fleet, and starting this summer, it operates 26 aircraft, compared to 15 planes in the first 6 months of 2015.
The number of employees increased to 1,009, from 676 last year. Currently, of the total employees, 91.6% are Romanian and 8.4% are foreigners.
