The Auchan Group, controlled by the Mulliez family, has inaugurated its first hotel in Brașov, following an investment of approximately €16 million. The company intends to open a second hotel in Reșița, of similar size and potentially operated by the same team of businessman Daniel Popescu, owner of the Kronwell hotel in Brașov. This is the first hotel built by the group internationally.
The Auchan Group has built a 4-star hotel with 133 rooms, named Qosmo, within the Coresi complex, developed on the site of the former Tractorul Brașov factory.
“In the project we are working on in Reșița, a hotel is already planned. We are not hotel investors or operators. In Reșița, we are in the phase of obtaining the PUZ (Zonal Urban Plan), and it will be another 2 years before we discuss who will operate it, but we have enough premises to believe it will be Kronwell,” stated Tatian Diaconu, CEO of Nhood Romania, which manages the real estate activity of the companies within the Auchan group.
