Arrivals recorded in tourist reception structures in July 2020 totaled 917.8 thousand, a decrease of 44.4% compared to those in July 2019. Of these, arrivals of Romanian tourists represented 96.7%, while foreign tourists represented 3.3%.

Regarding the arrivals of foreign tourists in tourist reception structures, the largest share was held by those from Europe, 88.7% of the total foreign tourists, the vast majority being from countries belonging to the European Union.

Overnight stays recorded in tourist reception structures in July 2020 totaled 2436.5 thousand, a decrease of 44.7% compared to those in July 2019. Of these, overnight stays of Romanian tourists represented 97.3%, while overnight stays of foreign tourists represented 2.7%.

Regarding the overnight stays of foreign tourists in tourist reception structures, the largest share was held by those from Europe, 88.1% of the total foreign tourists, the vast majority being from

Arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, recorded at border points, were 494.3 thousand in July 2020, a decrease of 69% compared to July 2019. Road and air transport means were the most used for arrivals from abroad, representing 84.5% and 13%, respectively, of the total number of arrivals.

Departures of Romanian visitors abroad, recorded at border points, were 874.7 thousand in July 2020, a decrease of 63.8% compared to July 2019. Road and air transport means were the most used for departures abroad, representing 75.8% and 23.6%, respectively, of the total number of departures.

Arrivals recorded in tourist reception structures in the period January – July 2020 totaled 3066 thousand, a decrease of 57.8% compared to the same period in 2019. Of these, arrivals of Romanian tourists represented 89.3%, while foreign tourists represented 10.7%.

Regarding the arrivals of foreign tourists in tourist reception structures, the largest share was held by those from Europe – 76% of total foreign tourists, and of these, 73.5% were from countries belonging to the European Union.

Overnight stays recorded in tourist reception structures in the period January – July 2020 totaled 6716.5 thousand, a decrease of 57.5% compared to the same period in 2019. Of these, overnight stays of Romanian tourists represented 89.4%, while overnight stays of foreign tourists

represented 10.6%.

Regarding the overnight stays of foreign tourists in tourist reception structures, the largest share was held by those from Europe – 74.4% of total foreign tourists, and of these, 72.4% were from countries belonging to the European Union.

The average length of stay in the period January – July 2020 was 2.2 days for both Romanian and foreign tourists.

The net occupancy rate of accommodation places in the period January – July 2020 was 22% for total tourist accommodation structures, a decrease of 9.8% compared to the period January – July 2019.

Higher occupancy rates were recorded in bungalows – 31.1%, hotels – 25.8%, campsites – 22%, accommodation spaces on ships – 21.3%, tourist villas – 20%, tourist chalets – 18.7%, hostels – 17.1%, and tourist pensions – 16.2%.

Arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, recorded at border points, in the analyzed period were 3219.2 thousand, a decrease of 54.9% compared to the same period last year.

Road and air transport means were the most used for arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, representing 80.4% and 17%, respectively, of the total number of arrivals.

Departures of Romanian visitors abroad, recorded at border points, in the analyzed period were 5995.7 thousand, a decrease of 52.3% compared to the same period in 2019.
