Arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, recorded at border points, were 541.7 thousand in January 2016, an increase of 0.7% compared to January 2015. The majority of foreign visitors come from countries located in Europe – 94.1%. Of the total arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, 53% come from European Union states. Among the European Union states, the most arrivals were recorded from Bulgaria – 30.5%, Hungary – 29.6%, Italy – 8.5%, Germany – 6.1%, Poland – 5.1%, and Austria – 2.2%.
