Approximately 50% Increase in Seaside Tourist Package Sales in the First Part of the Summer Season

The President of the Seaside – Danube Delta Association (ALDD), Corina Martin, and the President of the National Association of Travel Agencies in Romania (ANAT), Alin Burcea, presented the conclusions of the first half of the summer season. 

Thus, sales of tourist packages on the Romanian seaside recorded an increase of approximately 50% in the first part of the season compared to last year, with 3 and 4-star hotels being the most sought after.

They estimate a growth of about 30% by the end of the season compared to the last 8 years.

According to them, it is the first time in recent years that a resort in the southern part of the coast, namely Venus, has risen to second place, after Mamaia, in the top holiday preferences on the seaside, overtaking Eforie.

"We have high sales everywhere. In Mamaia, anything sells; even the worst hotel in Mamaia sells. The entire coast cannot be the same. We already know that the south, at the moment, caters to families, Eforie is recognized for spa treatments, and Mamaia for families and relaxation, but it is certainly at the top of the preferences for lovers of fun and entertainment," says the ANAT president, who also specifies that a real involvement of the Ministry of Tourism "would be helpful."

Representatives of the two organizations added that this summer, in addition to the events already announced in the calendar launched in February by ALDD, new surprises and premieres are being announced.

„Starting next week, we are kicking off a storybook Carnival, which will take place every Thursday in Mamaia, in the Amusement Park in the Holiday Village. For the first time, we are launching Shake Down Mania 2016 in this Carnival, a demonstration-invitation to a Freewheel test drive with hoverboards. We continue in full force with the major events of the summer: Mamaia Color Run, Superkombat Gala, Mamaia Strongman, Mamaia Music Awards, Mamaia Music Week, Navy Days, Tomis Antique Festival, Mamaia Antique Parade, Sunwaves Mamaia, the World Bobsleigh on Wheels Championship, and a new surprise – we are announcing a stage of the National Drift Championship, which we are bringing to Mamaia together with the Romanian Sport Automobile Federation,” stated Corina Martin.
