In the first quarter of this year, the operational tourist accommodation capacity of tourist reception structures was 1.9% lower than in the same period last year, according to data provided by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

In the total operational tourist accommodation capacity, hotels held a share of 57.7%, agrotourism guesthouses 15.3%, tourist guesthouses 12.7%, tourist villas 4.4%, hostels 3.5%, motels 3.4%, tourist chalets 1.9%, and other types of tourist reception structures with accommodation functions 1.1%.

3-star hotels represented 44.1% of the total operational tourist accommodation capacity of hotels, followed by 4-star (37.3%), 2-star (10.5%), 5-star (6.9%), 1-star (1%), and unclassified ones (0.2%).

By county, the largest share of operational tourist accommodation capacity is held by Brasov County with 12.8%, followed by the Municipality of Bucharest with 10.4%, Prahova County with 5.8%, Cluj and Maramures counties with 5% each, Valcea County with 4.8%, Suceava and Sibiu with 4.3% each, Mures County with 3.6%, and Constanta County with 3%.
