ANT wants to establish Destination Management Organizations in partnership with Google Romania

The National Authority for Tourism, ANT, intends to establish, in partnership with Google Romania, Destination Management Organizations, DMO, for each tourist region, entities that should contribute to increasing the competitiveness of destinations from a tourism perspective.
The President of ANT, Anca Pavel-Nedea, participated in Constanta at the „Destination Management: Offline & Online” conference, an occasion where she presented ANT’s vision regarding the establishment of Destination Management Organizations, mentioning that this project will contribute to the general development of tourism, with benefits for all involved.
„Employer associations, the National Authority for Tourism, the actors involved in tourism, I believe that the implementation of the concept of integrated tourist destination management organizations represents the most important project for Romanian tourism since the Revolution,” stated the president of ANT, mentioning that this concept has been implemented, with good results, in countries such as France, Finland, England, Ireland, and even Bulgaria.
She says that the internal promotion of tourism in Romania is no longer sufficient, and this is where Google steps in, which will make known the opportunities offered by online marketing tools and will outline the profile of the digital traveler.
The money for developing this concept would come from promotion taxes, subsequently utilized for the development and promotion of tourist destinations.
„Promotion taxes must be extended nationwide. We want to reintroduce the tourist tax, paid by the tourist arriving at the destination, but in a fair way. That is, its utilization should be done through these destination management organizations, through relevant development and promotion projects,” the president of ANT further stated.
