ANT: Tourism Could Record a Growth of at Least 18% in 2016

The President of the National Authority for Tourism, ANT, Anca Pavel-Nedea, stated during the international conference „Integrated Quality Management for Tourism Destinations: Key to Competitiveness” that Romanian tourism could record a growth of at least 18% in 2016, which would thus become the best year since 1989.
„I am optimistic and I believe we can reach a growth of at least 18%, even 23-25% for the summer period and cumulatively since the beginning of the year,” the ANT president specified.
Anca Pavel-Nedea stated that in the first four months of this year, the industry recorded a growth of 15%.
Previously, during the same conference, Taleb Rifai, the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization, UNWTO, specified that the golden rule in tourism is to invest at least 1% of the generated revenues into promotion. In this regard, Anca Pavel-Nedea pointed out that revenues amount to EUR 1.8 billion, but the promotion budget for this year is only EUR 2 million.
„The minimum necessary is EUR 5 million. For the next 4 years, the allocation of a minimum annual budget of about EUR 5 million has been taken into consideration,” the ANT president added.
