Present at the Madrid tourism fair, ANT President Simona Man stated that tourism authorities are trying to convince the Government to support the construction, through a public-private partnership, of a Dracula theme park between Sighișoara and Brașov.
She specified that a Dracula theme park, which does not necessarily have to be called Dracula Park but perhaps Tepes Park, would be very successful, considering that the myth is extremely publicized worldwide. At the same time, the park would give a new lease of life to mountain resorts, which cannot offer many leisure possibilities in the summer.
The National Authority for Tourism is to make a proposal to the Government for the initiation of the park’s construction procedures and will take into account the hypothesis of obtaining European funds for the project.
Simona Man believes that work on the project could begin this year.
The idea of promoting Romania with the legend of Dracula is not new, but every time the attempts were abandoned. The most famous project of this kind was Dracula Park, which was launched in November 2001, and the location chosen in the first version was Sighișoara.
