ANT Allocates EUR 8 Million for Tourism Promotion This Year

This year, the National Authority for Tourism (ANT) will allocate approximately EUR 8 million from European funds for outdoor advertising and participation in tourism fairs abroad, while the amounts budgeted by the Government for the same purpose total EUR 110,000.
Additionally, ANT has planned to participate in 45 exhibition events this year, half of which have already taken place.
ANT representatives specified that participation in fairs will be primarily financed from non-reimbursable European funds; the budgeted amount was RON 18 million excluding VAT. According to ANT estimates, a portion of this money will not be spent, with the exact amount to be determined at the end of 2015.
Furthermore, ANT intends to open a new tourism promotion office in Beijing this year, the operation of which requires funds of EUR 50,000 in 2015.
The authority currently operates nine tourism promotion offices abroad, in Austria, France, Italy, Germany, Great Britain, Poland, Russia, Spain, and the USA.
ANT officials state that the institution is focusing its short- and medium-term promotion efforts on priority and opportunity markets established based on the number of tourists arriving in Romania – from Germany, France, Italy, the USA, Austria, Great Britain/Ireland, Russia, Hungary, the Republic of Moldova, Israel, and the Middle East, without excluding punctual support for other projects of interest outside Europe.
ANT representatives also mention that there are currently no negotiations with any domestic or foreign television station for the tourism promotion of Romania.
