The National Association of Travel Agencies, ANAT, proposes to the authorities in the field that, in order to encourage incoming tourism, agencies bringing foreign tourists should be exempt from a small amount of corporate tax for each overnight stay of every tourist. The proposal was presented to the Minister of Tourism, Mircea Dobre, at a tourism forum by Alin Burcea, the president of ANAT.
“For each overnight stay, a certain amount should be placed in an imaginary account and deducted from the corporate tax. In this way, it is not a sum given by the Government, but it is a way we can be supported,” said Alin Burcea.
He specified that there are very few agencies with incoming operations, around 40, out of the more than 2,600 active in Romania.
ANAT also wants to establish an incoming school to be launched in the fall and to organize an incoming fair next spring, inviting 100-150 foreign tour operators to come and see the Romanian tourism product.
