Hotel group Accor and local investor Grand Hotel West have inaugurated Mercure Oradea, an investment of approximately EUR 15 million that marks the international network’s debut in the municipality. The new property, operated by Spark Hospitality, becomes the 26th property in Accor’s Romanian portfolio.
The hotel operates under a franchise agreement with Grand Hotel West, a company controlled by Rareș Dacian Țicra, Bogdan Andrei Țicra, Dana Țicra, and Andreea Copos. Located at 37 Ceyrat Street in the western part of the city, the project offers easy access to the historic center, Oradea Arena, and key regional business hubs and industrial parks.
Mercure Oradea offers 90 rooms (Classic, Privilege, and suites categories, interconnecting options, and spaces adapted for guests with reduced mobility). Accommodation units feature amenities such as smart control systems, high-speed Wi-Fi, Chromecast, minibar, and air conditioning, with selected suites featuring outdoor terraces with hot tubs.
For the corporate segment, the hotel offers four flexible conference rooms equipped with modern audio-video technology and natural light. The offer is completed by the StratumSPA center – featuring a heated indoor pool, jacuzzi, saunas, sensory showers, and a fitness room –, underground and outdoor parking, as well as electric vehicle charging stations.
The culinary services area is coordinated by Chef Henrik Sebok and includes Rei Restaurant, Rei Café, and the Cobalt private wine cellar. Operational management of the unit is provided by Spark Hospitality.
The project integrates Mercure brand’s “Local Shared with Care” concept, founded in 1973 and present globally with over 1,000 properties. Andrii Davydenko, Vice President Operations for Ukraine and Romania at Accor, stated that the new opening connects the city to the international travel circuit. In turn, Rareș Țicra, representative of Grand Hotel West, emphasized that the project supports tourism development and positions Oradea as a European business and leisure destination.
