Romanian and Georgian parliamentarians are discussing the possibility of launching a regular direct flight between Bucharest and Tbilisi this year, and the decision could be made following final discussions to take place at the end of February or the beginning of March, stated Georgian parliamentarian Isko Daseni, chairman of the Romanian-Georgian friendship and working group.
Georgia attracts 7 million foreign tourists annually; of these, about 3,000 are Romanians.
The travel agency Level Tour organized a first direct flight, with Blue Air, taking 146 Romanian tourists to Georgia between February 3-10, mostly tourists, but also six journalists and seven travel agents. In parallel, the agency also organized a flight that brought 20 Georgian travel agents and 10 journalists to Romania.
