9 Million EUR Investment in Sinaia Gondola Lift

On February 11, the Sinaia gondola lift was inaugurated on the Cota 1,400 – Cota 2,000 section. This is the most modern and the only cable installation reaching the highest altitude in the country, 2,050 m.
Until now, skiers who wanted to go up to Cota 2,000 were forced to buy two tickets: one for the gondola (Cota 1,000-Cota 1,400) and one for the cable car (Cota 1,400-Cota 2,000). From now on, they will have a skipass at a single rate of 140 RON for Gondola Sinaia, sections 1,000-1,400 and 1,400-2,000, and the Soarelui Chairlift.
The price for a round trip has not yet been announced. Currently, an adult ticket costs 34 RON between Cota 1,000 and Cota 1,400, according to Sinaia-ski.ro.
The construction of the gondola up to Cota 2,000 was initially announced in 2013. Works were started in July 2015, with a completion deadline of December 2015. After 7 months of construction and an investment of 9 million EUR, the Gondola, named Carp, was put into operation.
The gondola lift is managed by Transport Urban Sinaia, the company that manages the Sinaia ski area, modern cable transport installations, public transport, parking lots, and the city’s sports facilities.
The installation has 42 eight-seater gondolas, a transport capacity of 1,500 people per hour, and a route length of 2,000 m.
Gondola Carp is the installation that reaches the highest altitude in Romania, 2,050 m, and in the Valea cu Brazi area, it reaches the highest height above ground recorded by such an installation, 120 m, and is built on the steepest cable transport segment – 45 degrees at the first three pillars.
