5-star hotel in Rânca with EUR 12.8 million in funding

Indicontomat Serv SRL from Gorj County, with a turnover of EUR 77.4 thousand in 2024, has secured EUR 12.8 million in EU funding through the Just Transition Programme to build a 5-star hotel complex with pools and a spa in the Rânca mountain resort. The project, reported by Profit.ro, aims to develop wellness tourism in the region, despite a sharp downward trend in visitor numbers recorded at the county level in recent years.

According to data analyzed by Profit.ro, the future hotel complex will be built in the town of Novaci, on Rânca Street 188A (“Plaiul Mare” area), on a 13,500 sqm plot of land leased from the local town hall. The building will have a height regime of Basement+Ground Floor+Mezzanine+3 Floors+Setback Technical Floor and will integrate modern relaxation facilities. The investment will generate 80 permanent jobs. Of these, 24 are designated for disadvantaged categories, and another 24 will be filled by individuals coming from economic sectors directly affected by the industrial transition process in Gorj. Bids for this project are scheduled to be opened on June 16.

Indicontomat Serv SRL is equally controlled by Claudia Roșu and Ovidiu Alin Motorga, according to the termene.ro platform. This major investment comes amid a severe contraction in local tourism: the number of tourists arriving in Gorj County fell by 22.1% in January 2026 compared to January 2025, after recording decreases of 23.6% in December 2025 (compared to December 2024) and 9% in December 2024 (compared to December 2023).
