3TS Capital Invests €5M in Vola.ro and Fru.pl

Private equity and venture capital firm 3TS Capital Partners has invested €5 million to acquire a stake in online travel agencies Vola.ro and Fru.pl, which share the same shareholders.
The transaction was finalized in February between Interactive Travel Holdings—the majority shareholder of Vola.ro and Poland’s Fru.pl—and investor 3TS Capital Partners.
Daniel Truica, managing partner and founder of Vola.ro, stated that the agency intends to use the investment to continue developing its technology platform, consolidate its market position by accelerating marketing investments, and analyze opportunities in other markets.
Founded in 2007 by Daniel Truica along with two Polish partners, Vola.ro initially focused solely on flight ticket sales. Subsequently, the portal diversified its offering, adding all travel-related services: hotels, medical insurance, car rentals, corporate services, and city break/holiday packages (flight + hotel).
Michal Wrodarczyk, CEO of Interactive Travel Holdings, stated that this investment will help them develop their online platform, strengthen their market position, and provide the opportunity to expand outside Romania and Poland.
3TS Capital Partners has invested in several Romanian startups over time, including Avangate, LogMeIn, Internet Corp, and most recently in Universal Online Promotion, the company that owns www.elefant.ro.
