Demand for domestic flight tickets has increased by approximately 200% in the last year, according to the online travel agency Vola.ro.
This increase is mainly due to the growth in the number of flights on domestic routes, the emergence of low-cost flights between several major cities in Romania, but also the increasing number of Romanians participating in events organized within the country.
The most requested destinations departing from Bucharest are Timisoara, Cluj-Napoca, and Iasi.
While 5 years ago, domestic flight operators totaled 2,000 seats per week, currently, the four operators performing domestic flights provide between 3,000 and 4,000 seats weekly departing from Bucharest to Cluj, Iasi, and Timisoara.
The main operator on domestic routes is Tarom, followed by Blue Air, Wizz Air, and Ryanair.
