The Hilton hotel chain is planning a hotel in Craiova, the steps for this project are in full swing. Its location will be on Calea București, opposite the former Barbu Drugă mill, in the Viitorul area. In addition to this hotel, three other companies have applied for building permits for accommodation units.
Although there have been some changes, compared to the original plan, company representatives estimate the completion of the project in about a year and a half.
The Barbu Drugă mill has not yet been demolished and it seems that the beneficiary of the Hilton hotel has no intention of doing so. His intention is to preserve it and even restore it later, but the concrete date has not been set. The representatives of the design firm stated that the authorization for building the hotel was obtained some time ago, another authorization was requested from the City Hall of Craiova to be able to make certain technical changes.
The lack of accommodation spaces in Craiova has become increasingly evident in recent years, especially after the local administration put emphasis on attracting tourists, investing significant sums in the organization of Easter and Christmas fairs. The respective events attracted a considerable number of visitors to Craiova.
