Lion Capital increased its stake in the former Intercontinental Hotel

Lion Capital (LION) has reported a 40.1% stake in Grand Hotel Bucharest (RCHI), formerly Intercontinental.
The management of GRAND HOTEL BUCHAREST BUCHAREST S.A. “the Company” informs the market about the receipt from LION CAPITAL SA of the notification that the Company has exceeded the 33% threshold.
LION Capital SA currently holds, according to the notification, a number of shares representing 40.1902% of the share capital and total voting rights of the Company.
In July 2022, SIF Banat-Crișana, now Lion Capital, reached a 29.9% holding in Compania Hotelieră Intercontinental Romania (RCHI, since renamed GRAND HOTEL BUCHAREST), from 10.6%,.
The transaction at the time was carried out at a price of around 40.8 mil.
RON and corresponded to the stake previously held by Astra (16.32%), now in liquidation.
According to BVB reports, the shareholders of RCHI include The Nova Group Investments, owned by the Adamescu family, with a 15.7% stake, and Mountbay Limited, with 32.9%.
Three years ago, hotel representatives announced that the contract with the international chain Intercontinental would no longer be extended and said that they would begin the process of renovating the building.
