Cluj-Napoca City Hall wants to buy the Continental Hotel

The Mayor of Cluj-Napoca, Emil Boc, announces that he wants to buy the Continental Hotel, whatever the price.
This year, the general budget of the municipality is 721 mil.
EUR, with a development section of 406 mil.

According to Mayor Emil Boc, the unspent funds represent a “rolling fund” that ensures continuity for the development of projects in the city.
The City Hall must have financial resources to be able to purchase the Continental Hotel, located in the city’s ground zero.
Representatives of the local administration have announced that the City Hall will purchase the building if it is put up for sale.
Last spring, Deputy Mayor Dan Tarcea explained that the City Hall could not buy all the buildings in the city center, such as the Melody Hotel, acquired and rehabilitated by the Sapientia Foundation, but it will exercise its pre-emptive right to purchase the Continental Hotel.
At the end of 2022, the City Hall acquired the BCR building in the area of Rue George Barițiu, a for the sum of 5.8 mil.
