The Grand Hotel du Boulevard, one of the oldest buildings in Bucharest, will reopen at the end of the first quarter of this year and is affiliated to the Maltese hotel chain Corinthia, which has properties in several cities around the world, including London, Budapest, Lisbon and Malta. The modernization works started a few years ago and were financed by a loan taken out by Niro Investment, the owner of the building, from CEC Bank.
Located in the historic Grand Hotel du Boulevard building, this project is realized by the NIRO Group, owner of this architectural jewel in the heart of Bucharest, and operated by the exclusive Maltese hotel group Corinthia. Founded in 1962 by the Pisani family, the Corinthia Group has evolved from a network of luxury hotels into a renowned multinational investor and operator. Since 2000, when it became a public company, the Corinthia portfolio includes flagship hotels in cities such as London, Budapest, Lisbon and Malta, alongside projects under development in destinations such as Rome, New York, Brussels, Doha, Riyadh and resorts in the Maldives,” Niro Investment told Profit.ro. The hotel will have 30 luxury suites.
Grand Hotel du Boulevard is one of the oldest hotels in Bucharest, having been built by the architect of the Bucharest University building, Alexandru Orăscu, starting in 1867. The hotel opened its doors to the public in 1873 under the name Hotel Herdan, which was changed in 1877 to Grand Hotel du Boulevard.
