The Central Hotel in Bacău is being modernized

Mayor Lucian Daniel Stanciu Viziteu announced that both the expropriation and the technical and economic indicators for the modernization project have been approved after long negotiations in the City Council.
“This is a great achievement for our city.
After many setbacks and opposition from some local councillors, we have managed to take a decisive step to bring these emblematic buildings back into the cultural and tourist circuit of Bacău,” he said.
The project for the modernization of two of the most important historical buildings in Bacău was approved: Central Hotel, formerly known as Athenee Palace, and Bacovia Theater.
The total investment amounts to 97,9 mil.
RON, money from the local budget and European funds.
Hotel Central is inscribed in the list of historical monuments and consists of a ground floor plus three floors, with a usable area of 925.94 square meters, a built area of 1,266 square meters and an adjoining land of 362 square meters.
The former Athenee Palace, a building with a rich history and a symbol of Bacau, will be transformed into a modern and functional space.
The works will include the removal of the existing finishes, re-compartmentalization to create living spaces, structural consolidation works and the complete refurbishment of the installations.
The roof will also be completely rebuilt.
An investment for the future of Bacău The rehabilitation project has been included in the city’s Sustainable Development Strategy and has received the approval of the Managing Authority POR 2021-2027, thus securing the necessary funding.
